At BCS Shalom Centre all clients receive the same level of high-quality, personalised care. That is at the core of why we exist.

As well, all clients benefit from the wide range of services and activities available at the centre.

However, we also recognise that some clients and their families or friends may like to choose a package that includes some of the finer things in life. At Shalom we call this the Premium Lifestyle Choice option.

Premium Lifestyle Choice offers Shalom clients extras such as significantly higher standards of accommodation, food and other personal services that clients and their families might not expect to find at an aged care centre.

Shalom Premium Lifestyle Choice offers a range of extra service enhancements and provisions, which include:

• Spacious individual rooms with ensuites
• Designer-selected superior decor & furnishings
• Clients have access to a wide variety of main meals, snacks and beverages of their choosing
• Provision of a chef for meal preparation
• Special areas provided for dining options
• Clients can choose from a wide variety of lifestyle activities including sensory stimulation for clients with dementia
• Quality linen, glassware, crockery, cutlery & furnishings
• Quality toiletries
• Foxtel

Further services that are available to clients on a fee-payment basis are:

• Provision of services by a massage therapist, beautician & manicurist
• Broadband connection

The new Shalom wing also includes an activity/chapel area and café that will be available to all clients at the Marsfield site.

Premium Lifestyle Choice - Fine Food

Shalom Premium Lifestyle Choice clients enjoy a new experience in aged care dining.

Clients will enjoy a wide range of main meals, snack meals and beverage options at times of their choosing.

The enjoyment and experience of meals will be enhanced by the aroma of the food being prepared and served on-site, with added touches such as quality china, glassware, linen and cutlery.

Clients' preferences for meal services are sought and acted upon and a range of options are available for clients with restricted ability to eat some foods.

• All meals at Shalom are prepared by our chef.
• Meals will be served over a 1.5 hour period which gives the client more flexible meal time choices.
• Clients are consulted on their preferred meal and beverage choices, dining options and timing of meals on or before arrival to the facility.
• The chef will be available to talk to clients individually about their food preferences.
• To enhance community and enjoy socialising, clients will be encouraged to go to the dining room for meals, but provision will be made for tray service to rooms if requested and other dining areas may be booked for special occasions.

Breakfast consists of at least 2 hot dish alternatives and lunch and dinner consists of a choice of at least 2 main courses plus entree/soup and/or a choice of desserts.

There will be a choice of beer and/or wine for clients at dinner. It is important to note that the provision of these beverages will be assessed on an individual basis to ensure that there is not a negative interaction with medications and existing medical conditions.

A selection of light meals is available at morning and afternoon tea and supper and a selection of snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are available 24 hrs per day, in addition to water, tea, coffee, juices, fruit and biscuits.

Meals are available for guests on request for a small fee.

Our catering staff are highly trained in customer service including excellence in meal preparation and meal delivery.

Other enhanced dining options will be introduced over a period of time, including:

• Happy hour
• Wine and cheese evenings
• Alfresco Dining - dining outdoors on either the upstairs balcony or in the garden area
• Candlelight dinners with family and friends
• BBQ's and special occasions meals

In addition to the extra service food services provisions as outlined above a café is located in the new building just to the side of the main foyer which, when operational, can be utilised by all of the clients at BCS Shalom. The café is adjacent to an activity area, the hairdresser's salon and opens out into a central garden.
